VERANNE administers extramural research funds on behalf of the VA Medical Centers in White River Junction, VT, Togus, ME, Manchester, NH, and Northampton, MA.  It is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that operates under PL 100-322, which was passed in 1988 to provide a more efficient mechanism for private and non-VA public funding of VA research and education.

Research projects administered by VERANNE must comply with Veterans Health Administration regulatory requirements.  For clinical trials involving human subjects, they must be approved by both the White River Junction VA Research and Development Committee (for scientific merit) and by the Veterans IRB of Northern New England.  VERANNE works closely with the White River Junction Research staff, and our goal is provide seamless pre-award and post-award assistance for investigators and sponsors.
