Sonic Clinical Trials (SCT) is a division of the Australian-owned global company, Sonic Healthcare Ltd. Sonic Healthcare owns the Independent Practitioners Network (IPN), the country’s largest GP corporate group, providing about 10% of primary care services in Australia.
About 70% of Australians reside within a 10 kilometre radius of an IPN centre. SCT offers Site Management Organisation services, working closely with IPN on clinical studies and programs in the primary care setting for over 13 years. SCT is responsible for training and developing GP research sites throughout the IPN network. The network currently comprises over 260 centres and approximately 2,000 GPs. The network provides almost 10 million patient consultations annually, and has records for some 2.8 million patients seen in the last 2-3 years.
Our team of mobile study coordinators (SC) plays a critical role in site set up, patient identification and recruitment and data collection. SCT’s in-house project management infrastructure supports the SCs and sites. Field-based study nurse managers (SNMs) manage the SC teams and provide support and back up for site management activities, drive site-specific recruitment action plans, review prospective patient visits scheduled via Sonic’s Clinical Trial Management System, on-site SC training, coaching and performance management, back up for patient visit conduct due to overlap or SC absence, creating a competitive team environment and ongoing quality assurance.
In addition to its SMO service offering, Sonic Clinical Trials also offers a central laboratory service in Australia and across Asia-Pacific countries.
