The Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) has nearly 30 years of experience in conducting clinical trials across a rang of specialities. There are currently active research groups in Cancer Care / Haematology, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology / Hepatology, Surgery, Geriatric / Stroke Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Intensive Care, Nephrology, Obstetric Medicine and Rheumatology.
The SCHHS serves a local population of about 400,000, as well as providing an increasing number of tertiary services to the surrounding catchment of an additional 300,000 people. Currently these clinical services, and the associated research, are mainly conducted at Nambour General Hospital, however in 2016, will move to the new 450 bed Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya.
To support the anticipated increase in research activity the HHS has built up a dedicated clinical trials team supported by a Trials Manager, Business Officer, enhanced Governance processes and a range of Specialists committed to Clinical Research. We have a successful track record for recruitment and retention of research participants and a reputation for the quality of our data collection. These factors make us an ideal site for the conduct of clinical research and clinical trials.
