The Philadelphia Research and Education Foundation (PREF), established in 2000 is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation that supports the research and education missions of the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMC VAMC). Through a unique public/private partnership created by congressional order in 1988, PREF is one of 85 nonprofit corporations that have that have dramatically broadened VA’s ability to benefit from private and non-VA public support for research conducted at VA medical centers.
PREF supports the research interests of the medical center by providing administrative support for clinical trials, quality improvement and education projects that advance medical care for our Veterans and the general public. We also assist with contract compliance, fiscal oversight, human resources, purchasing and training.
