Cottage Health formed in 1996 as the not-for-profit parent organization of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and its affiliated Cottage Children's Medical Center and Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, and Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. Pacific Diagnostics Laboratory (PDL) is proud to be an independent subsidiary under Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, an affiliate of Cottage Health.

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital
Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital (SBCH) is a 519-bed acute care teaching hospital and trauma center, the largest of its kind between Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area. Affiliated with SBCH, Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital is dedicated to providing excellent care for survivors of stroke, brain and spinal cord injury, orthopedic injury and other disabling conditions; and Cottage Children’s Medical Center provides a broad range of pediatric medical services, including the Grotenhuis Pediatric Outpatient Clinics, 68 inpatient beds, and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.

Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital
Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital offers 52 private rooms for medical, surgical and intensive care. Specialties include a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, the Ridley-Tree Center for Wound Management, and the Cottage Center for Orthopedics. Today, Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital admits more than 1,700 patients a year and sees more than 24,000 emergency visits.

Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital
Offering acute-care services to the Santa Ynez Valley since 1964, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital provides outpatient surgery, 24-hour emergency services, and a physician office lease program that brings specialists to the Valley on a regular basis.

Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories
Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories (PDL), a wholly-owned subsidiary under Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, is a full-service, independent clinical laboratory performing more than 2.1 million lab procedures annually. PDL’s enhanced outpatient lab testing has the largest local test menu between LA and the Bay Area.

Cottage’s inpatient laboratories are fully licensed and accredited by The Joint Commission. Our full-service clinical labs offer over 800 procedures. Unlike any other center in the region, 97% of our procedures are performed in-house, ensuring the outstanding accuracy for which we are known.

Our medical staff is comprised of more than 700 physicians, many with subspecialties typically found only at university medical centers. Cottage Health’s specialties include Cottage Children’s Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, Neuroscience Institute, Heart & Vascular Center, Center for Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation Hospital. Over the course of 30 years of research at Cottage, almost 500 funded and non-funded studies have been implemented.

Certified Clinical Research Coordinators are assigned as primary coordinator on a study based on workload and study needs. (RN/non-RN). Back-up coordinators are assigned based on study needs.
